We communicate all day, every day, at home, at work and in our relationships, yet sometimes the simplest conversations are the ones that seem to go spectacularly off course.
In this session, Anisa Lewis explores what gets in the way of good communication and why being heard isn’t always as straightforward as simply choosing the right words. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience working with people, relationships and families, she will look at the role curiosity, connection and communication play in creating conversations that actually go somewhere.
This isn’t just about parenting, managing people or navigating difficult relationships. It’s about the conversations we have everywhere. Anisa will share practical ideas and questions you can use at home, at work and in everyday life, helping you think differently about how you listen, how you respond and what might be happening underneath the words being said.
Expect plenty to reflect on, some things you can try straight away and, quite possibly, a different way of approaching the next conversation you have.
Anisa Lewis is an accredited Positive Parenting Coach, Neurodiversity Coach, speaker, mentor and former deputy headteacher, with more than 25 years’ experience working in education and with children and families.
For the past ten years, Anisa has worked directly with parents and families across the UK and internationally, helping them navigate the ups and downs of family life, from challenging behaviour, anxiety and big emotions to communication, relationships and the everyday moments that can leave parents wondering what on earth to do next.
Drawing on her background in education, coaching expertise and real-life experience as a parent, Anisa’s approach is warm, practical and refreshingly non-judgemental. Rather than focusing simply on changing behaviour, she encourages parents to get curious about what might be happening underneath it, with curiosity, connection and communication at the heart of her work.
Alongside her work with families, Anisa speaks and delivers workshops and training for schools, businesses and organisations. She believes that meaningful change doesn’t have to come from completely overhauling family life. Sometimes one different question, one small shift or one conversation can change the whole direction of things.
